300 HR
300 Hour School of Yoga: Five Dimensions of Being: Advanced Yoga Teacher Training, Paving the Pathway to Teaching and Living in Integration
Begins August 14, 2021
14 weekends
Graduation February 7, 2022
Overview
This intensive 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training has five modules, taking place over the course of 14 weekends, and is based upon the Panchamaya system. (the five sheaths of being) Yoga recognizes that we are multi-dimensional beings made up of 5 different, interactive layers. When all five of these sheaths are in harmony and communicating with each other it brings self-assurance, equipoise, and balance to your teaching and life. Through the use of texts rich in Hatha and tantric philosophy (Hatha Yoga Pradipika & Yoga of the Subtle Body) and through experiential practices you will be guided in your own personal growth, both professionally, as a teacher, and personally. In addition to the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Yoga of the Subtle Body, Modules 1-4 will each have a required book that will enrich and enhance your studies and cultivate more focus on the respective sheath.
Intention
It is the intention of this 300-hour training to create an in-depth study of your body, mind, and soul, moving from the grossest, outermost layer of Annaymayakosha (the physical body) to the most subtle, core layer of Anandamayakosha. (the bliss body) Over the course of this training, there will be a concentrated focus on five major areas:
the physical body: Over four weekends, gain a deeper understanding of spinal anatomy and functional anatomy- identifying common muscular imbalances/misalignments, learning muscular origin and insertion as well as the muscles that are “locked long” and “locked short;” learning tools to help guide your students to cultivate flexibility, mobility, and stability and ultimately regain muscular balance; learn teaching methodology to create thorough, well-sequenced practices; enhance your observation skills and honor each individual student’s physical needs while managing and holding space for the group as a whole; study vinyasa krama (the mindful construction of a yoga practice) that will range from dynamic vinyasa classes to yin and restorative practices. Chakras, 1-3; Asana Lab- Standing Poses and Core.
the breath body: Over four weekends, explore in-depth the Anatomy of Pranayama… learn the Anatomy of Respiration and gain a greater understanding of the importance of cultivating a strong, well balanced, stable structure as necessary preparation for pranayama. Study pranayama techniques and the energetics of sequencing a class based on those techniques; cultivate a greater understanding of the five Vayus and their role in mind/body health; understand how breath and pranayama affect your Vagus nerve and its importance and role in the mind/body connection. Chakra 4; Asana Lab – twists and backbends
the mental body: Over two weekends we will study the layer of mind -delve into the philosophical study of Samkhya Yoga and the inner workings of consciousness; study the tradition of sacred sound and experience the power of Mantra Meditation and the effects of mantra on the mind - Chakra 5; Asana Lab – forward bends
the intellectual/wisdom body: Over two weekends study the effects of meditation and the mind; gain a basic understanding of neuroplasticity and how meditation positively affects the shape of our brain/mind; practice and learn to guide various meditation techniques; Chakra 6; Lab – meditations/yin yoga
the bliss body: Over the course of our final two weekends we dive deep into the core of our being with the study of Yoga Nidra as well as a full day of silent meditation, taking a noble vow of silence. There will be an ongoing study of meditation and its positive effects on health and well being; Chakra 7; Lab – Shavasana/meditation/ restorative yoga
It is the intention of this 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training Program to take you deeper into the philosophical and anatomical concepts studied in a 200-hour program.
