Katherine Palms | Yoga & Fitness Substitute
Katherine currently serves as a Grantmaking Associate at the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation in Traverse City, Michigan. While working there she is also a substitute teacher for Yoga and Barre at Yen Yoga and Fitness, and at Centre Ice Fitness. Katherine obtained her 200hrs in Vinyasa and Restorative Yoga through Awakened Life School of Yoga (ALSY) in 2013. After teaching for 6 months, Katherine then went to Chennai, India for a 10-day immersion training in Hatha Yoga, Ayurveda, and Indian Traditions in 2014. Then following that training, Katherine went back to assist at the ALSY Program in 2014. Katherine was trained in Barre Technique through the Kalamazoo Barre Studio in 2015. She has continued to pursue education in other trainings, like Yoga for 12 Step Recovery (Y12SR), Pranayama, Holy Yoga and further self-study.
For the past two summers Katherine has taught Summer Series. She led a Yoga Donation Series for the Leelanau Conservancy in 2018, along with Yoga and Wine at Bonobo Winery in 2017. She is extremely grateful for the people she gets to meet, and opportunities her teaching provides her.
Katherine has a passion for understanding how to live well, as she calls it THRIVE. She spends her spare time hiking, kayaking, with her family and golden doodle named Hunny, adventuring with friends, teaching yoga, supporting the Traverse City Plant Based Lifestyle group, and sharing essential oils.
